Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga is taught at The Centre by Dorina and is a class where asanas are sequenced so that we move from one asana to the other seamlessly using our breath. It is a dynamic practice where attention is paid to correct and safe body alignment and is taught in such a way that each flow of movements prepares you for the next. The classes are rooted in hatha yoga and are deeply connected to conscious movement through a dynamic, challenging flow, breath, and intention.

What to Expect in a Vinyasa Yoga Class:

  1. Dynamic Flow of Movements: Vinyasa yoga involves connecting breath to movement, creating a continuous mindful flow between poses. Expect sequences such as Sun Salutations and creative transitions between asanas.

  2. Variety of Styles and Intensity: Classes can range from gentle to vigorous, depending on the teacher’s approach. You might experience a faster pace or focus on specific themes, such as holistic strength, flexibility, or balance.

  3. Focus on Breath Awareness: Synchronising breath with movement is central to Vinyasa. Breathing techniques (pranayama) are often introduced to create mindfulness and rhythm throughout the practice.

  4. Creative Sequencing: Unlike rigid styles, Vinyasa classes often feature unique and varied pose sequences, allowing each session to feel fresh and dynamic.

  5. Integration of Mind and Body: While physically active, the practice also cultivates mental focus, awareness, and mindfulness, often ending with a calming savasana (final resting pose).

Who This Class Is For:

  1. Active Practitioners: Perfect for individuals seeking a dynamic and physically engaging yoga practice that also incorporates mindfulness.

  2. Beginners to Advanced: While suitable for beginners who enjoy movement, familiarity with basic poses can enhance the experience. Advanced practitioners will appreciate the creative and challenging sequences.

  3. Stress Relief Seekers: The breath-focused flow can be meditative, helping to release tension and calm the mind while energising the body.

  4. Creative and Varied Practices: Ideal for those who enjoy varied flows that keep the practice interesting and adaptable.

Vinyasa yoga is a versatile style that offers something for everyone, whether you're looking to build strength, improve flexibility, or find a mindful rhythm to your day. Each class is an opportunity to harmonise breath, movement, and intention.
