ABOUT THE CENTRE

Emma Michael founded The Centre with a vision to create a safe nurturing environment for people to develop in their physical, emotional, and spiritual growth, opening the door to self-transformation, health, and happiness. A place where people could share in a community to expand their education, and evolve their practice and self care into a healthy art and methodology for daily life
The studio is located fairly centrally in Nicosia on Klimentos Street, in between Pindarou Street and Degeni Akrita Street. It is on the ground floor accessible from the street, with plenty of parking bays and paid parking close by. It is a light open space which benefits from the studio front's frosted windows.
There are changing rooms, a bathroom, and a shower and we have mats and props for you to use during your classes and sessions.

On one wall we have a mural of the Sri Yantra, taken from a painting Emma found in the stunning Jodhpur fort on her travels around India. A yantra is a geometric symbol that has traditionally been used to worship deities and as an aid for meditation. The Sri Yantra has many philosophical meanings and its design represents the universe and the feminine energy of creation. Each triangle and element of the symbol holds philosophical significance and represents a balance between the divine feminine and divine masculine. It signifies the intimate weave between this world and how we experience it and the divine.
The presence of the Sri yantra on The Centre’s wall represents and pays homage to the philosophical roots of the modern yoga practice which we teach. The yoga taught at The Centre is traditional, in the sense that it's foundation is based on the teachings of the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Yoga's original purpose was that of spiritual awakening and union with the divine within us all. Though many of the classes taught at The Centre use asana (posture), these greater themes around mindfulness and awareness, breath, wisdom and emotion, intuition, energy and connecting to our true divine nature are the themes which dictate our sessions.
