Prenatal Partner Workshop

These prenatal partner workshops focus on how the birth partner can support their partner using yoga. They include a variety of techniques and practices aimed at fostering connection, reducing stress, and preparing for labor and childbirth.

Emma also focuses on practical ways that the birthing partner can support the mother through the whole process. She uses her years of supporting women and couples through pregnancy and labour with yoga and shiatsu as the basis of the workshop.

Topics and Techniques to Cover

  1. Understanding Labor and the Partner's Role: Stages of labor, the role of the birth partner as a support system, emotionally and physically, and techniques for maintaining calm and focus during the birthing process.

  2. Breathing Techniques: Breathing exercises to calm the mind and manage pain, partner-assisted breathing techniques

  3. Yoga for Labor and Active Labour Support: Partner-assisted yoga poses to relieve tension and improve body alignment, positions, and movements the birth partner can help facilitate during labor, poses that open the pelvis, encourage optimal foetal positioning, and ease tension.

  4. Acupressure Points & Massage Techniques: Pressure points for relaxation and pain relief, hands-on exercises to stimulate areas that can encourage contractions or provide relief, massage for labour

  5. How to Create a Supportive Environment: Understanding how to create a calming birth space, and ways to advocate for the birthing partner's needs in medical or home settings.

Benefits of the Workshop

  1. Enhances birth partner's confidence in their ability to provide effective and compassionate support.

  2. Strengthens the emotional and physical connection between partners.

  3. Prepares both partners to manage the unpredictability of labour with calm and adaptability.
